Schengen calculator
Add your stays in the Schengen area, past and planned. See how many of your 90 days you've used, how long you can stay from any date, and when you can come back.
How this calculator counts
It follows the rule in the Schengen Borders Code as the European Commission's short-stay calculator applies it: on any date, count the days you were in the area in that date and the 179 days before it. If the count is 90 or less, you are within the rule.
"How long can I stay" adds days one at a time from the date you choose and stops at the first day that would push any 180-day period past 90, allowing for the trips you've already planned. We checked the answers against worked examples in the Commission's user guide and in our own app's tests.
It counts days only. Whether the 90/180 rule applies to you depends on your passport and any residence permit or visa you hold: see the guide to the rule and GOV.UK's travel advice.
Questions people ask
Does the 90-day allowance reset after 180 days?
No. There is no fixed 180-day block that starts again. On any day, look back over that day and the 179 days before it: you may have been in the Schengen area on no more than 90 of them. Each day, the oldest day in the window drops out and a new one is added.
Do the days I arrive and leave count?
Yes. Any day you are in the area for any part of it counts as a full day, so the day you enter and the day you leave both count. That is how the European Commission’s own short-stay calculator counts.
Which countries count?
The 29 Schengen members: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland. Ireland and Cyprus are in the EU but not in the Schengen area, so days there don’t count. Monaco, San Marino and the Vatican can only be reached through Schengen countries, so time there is usually treated as Schengen time.
